History

Our club "The Probus Club of The Crawley Hawth Wood" was founded in 1995 and initially comprised 20 members drawn, in liaison with the respective clubs, from the waiting lists of the three other Probus clubs already in existence in Crawley at that time.

What is Probus?

Probus is a worldwide network of clubs aimed at providing a range of social activities for retired and semi-retired men. There are approximately 4,000 clubs worldwide, with 300,000 members. Although part of a worldwide organisation, each club operates as an independent autonomous unit, each with it's own constitution, rules and traditions. Clubs meet regularly for fellowship and an extension of their interests. Each club elects its own officers, typically a president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer, speaker secretary and membership secretary.
